Terry Baker is a founding partner of the law firm Tonkon Torp, where his practice includes litigation of product liability, eminent domain, and contract cases. Baker has practiced law in state and federal courts, as well as in the U.S. Court of Claims and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has served as an arbitrator on the Multnomah County Circuit Court Arbitration Panel since 1986 and is a member of the Commercial Arbitration Panel of the American Arbitration Association.
Baker is a former chairman of the board and a current director of the American Automobile Association and also serves as the vice chairman and a member of the board of AAA Oregon/Idaho. The 1962 recipient of the coveted Heisman Trophy, Baker was also Sports Illustrated magazine’s “Sportsman of the Year.” Prior to entering law school, he played professional football with the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams and the CFL’s Edmonton Eskimos. Baker was inducted into the GTE Academic All-American Hall of Fame and received the NCAA Silver Anniversary Award. As an OSU mechanical engineering student, he was a member of the honor society, Pi Tau Sigma.
